Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 25, 2026

This policy explains what data FlipTool collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We've written it to match what the app actually does — not boilerplate.

1. Who we are

FlipTool is an AI-powered reselling assistant for iOS and Android, operated by FlipTool LLC, a limited liability company registered in Alabama, United States. In this policy, "FlipTool," "we," "us," and "our" refer to FlipTool LLC. "You" refers to anyone who uses the app.

This policy covers the FlipTool mobile app and this website. It does not cover the third-party services we rely on to run the app — each of those has its own privacy policy, and we list them below.

2. What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to work. Here's the complete picture.

Account information

When you create an account, you sign in with email and a password, or with Apple or Google. Your email address and login are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase). If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may give us a private relay email address instead of your real one. We do not store your name.

Content you create in the app

  • Inventory and sales records — item titles, notes, purchase prices, listing prices, fees, and sale details you enter.
  • Goals and expenses — profit or sales targets you set and business expenses you log.
  • Scan and flip history — items you've analyzed and the results you saved.
  • Chatbot messages — text you send to Budi, our in-app AI assistant.

Photos

See Photos and scans below for exactly how these are handled.

Purchase information

When you subscribe or buy credit packs, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google through our payments provider (RevenueCat). We receive your subscription status and purchase history so we can unlock the features you paid for. We never see or store your full payment card details — those stay with Apple, Google, and their payment processors.

A device identifier (hashed)

To prevent abuse of our free-credit offers, we create a random identifier for your device and store it in a one-way hashed form (we cannot reverse it back to your device). It is not an advertising ID and is not linked to your real-world identity. Because it exists to stop the same device from repeatedly claiming free credits, this hashed identifier can persist even after you delete your account — see Deleting your account.

Technical and diagnostic data

Our servers keep operational logs to run the service, detect abuse, and fix problems. These logs can include your account identifier, a coarse portion of your IP address (a network range, not your full IP), and the item text sent for identification. We use IP-range information only to enforce rate limits and prevent abuse; we do not use it to track your location.

What we do NOT collect: We do not use any advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, an advertising identifier (IDFA/GAID), or your name. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data — ever.

3. Photos and scans

Photos are central to how FlipTool works, so here is exactly what happens to them.

Scan photos (identifying an item)

When you photograph an item to identify and price it, that image is sent to our server and passed on to our AI and pricing partners (OpenAI and eBay) to recognize the item and find comparable listings. We do not store your scan photos. They are held only in memory long enough to return your result and are not written to our database or file storage. A short-lived, anonymized fingerprint of the image may be cached briefly to avoid re-processing the same scan, but the photo itself is not kept.

Inventory photos (saved to your account)

If you attach a photo to an item in your inventory, that photo is stored in a private, access-controlled storage bucket tied to your account. Only you can view your own photos. These photos remain until you delete the item, delete your account, or otherwise remove them.

4. How we use your data

  • To run the app — identify items, calculate pricing and profit, manage your inventory, power analytics and goals, and answer your questions through Budi.
  • To process purchases — unlock subscriptions and credits you buy, and manage your credit balance.
  • To prevent abuse — stop repeated claiming of free credits and enforce fair-use limits.
  • To fix and improve the app — diagnose errors and keep the service reliable.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

5. Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers that make FlipTool work. Each acts on our behalf or as an independent processor, and each has its own privacy policy. We do not sell data to anyone.

  • OpenAI — receives your scan photos and item/chat text to power AI identification and the assistant. It does not receive your email, account ID, or IP.
  • eBay — receives scan images and item text to find comparable listings. No personal identifiers.
  • SerpApi, Rainforest, Discogs — receive item search text to gather pricing comps. No personal identifiers.
  • RevenueCat — processes purchases and receives your account identifier and purchase history to manage subscriptions.
  • Supabase — our database, authentication, and photo storage provider; holds your account and the content you create.
  • Render — hosts our backend servers, which handle app traffic.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we will notify you.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and the content you create for as long as your account is active. Scan photos are not retained (see above). Inventory photos and records are kept until you delete them or close your account. We keep certain records longer where necessary to prevent fraud (the hashed device identifier) or to run the service.

7. Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account and its associated data at any time. When you delete your account, we remove the personal data associated with it — your inventory, records, goals, expenses, saved photos, and account details.

One exception: the one-way hashed device identifier described above may be retained after deletion, solely to keep our free-credit abuse protections working. It is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to recover your deleted data.

Note: Deleting your FlipTool account does not cancel any active subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google — you must cancel through your App Store or Google Play account settings to stop being charged.

For step-by-step deletion instructions, see our Account Deletion page, or email us at admin@fliptool.app.

8. Security

We protect your data with access controls, encrypted connections, and per-user data isolation so that users can only access their own information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and to limit what we collect in the first place.

9. Children

FlipTool is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you are between 13 and 18, you may use FlipTool only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or by contacting us. We do not sell personal data, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use FlipTool after a change means you accept the updated policy.
